Enamel Bowl
These images show a selection of my enamel bowls. When designing a bowl, both the inside and outside must compliment each other to achieve a complete design. It is a key part of the creative process to work out how the design can work with the shape of the bowl. It is challenging to apply enamels to a curved surface. The work I show here involves the sifting of enamel, lead and lead free, as well as work involving wet process enamels. As the enamel is on a slanted surface, it can slide when high fired. This can enhance the colours, as well as allowing other colours to emerge, through the interaction of enamel colours as layers of enamel are built up.
Enamel Panels
When working on an enamel panel picture, it is possible to create abstract or representational pieces. I have enjoyed creating panels of horses, frogs, geckos and birds. I have also always been drawn to the sea; the sight of it is endlessly fascinating. So some of my work is sea scapes, as shown here. Some of the pieces shown on this website were commissions. If there is something you would like to see created in enamel, which holds special memories for you, please do let me know. Each piece is a unique work of art, personal to you
